very long road stretching our thought country fields

I am walking the via Francigena Pilgrimage route from Canterbury, England to the steps of St. Peters in the Vatican City. It is not the first pilgrimage that I have made but it will be the longest. Via Francigena is a 2,000 kilometre walk and I believe it will take me the better part of three months to complete.

A pilgrimage is not a foot race and anything can happen. I know there will be many marvels to see and people to meet along the way. And churches to photograph. Okay maybe the journey will take longer than three months. But that is the most valuable part of a pilgrimage. The experience, the connecting once again with nature, the people along the way and one’s own faith.
